The project has now been moved successfully to our own servers. We have also expanded the server capacity significantly. This means performance issues should be history now. In any case, we will strive to provide a high level of availability.

We want to apologize for the down time in the past few days, but unluckily moving a project of this magnitude is hardly possible without any downtime.

Note:
Apparently, the update of the top list does not work yet. We’ll try to figure out this problem and resolve it in a timely fashion.

Have you found any other errors? Please notify us via comment or email.

Future prospects:

Firstly one of our main goals is to offer our services as reliably as possible, but on the other hand, we want the project to be profitable to be able to expand our offerings with interesting features.
However, fears that we might operate in the shadows are unnecessary.

We already have some ideas to improve the monetization of the project and are looking forward to further suggestions and opinions. From most measures, your blog can benefit too - either through more visitors and/or higher revenue:

1. Expansion to a RSS directory or a blog search engine for enrolled blogs
1b. Blog directory, possibly evaluation of keywords
2. Expansion to a bookmark directory for blogs
3. Sponsored blog entries or entries with contests

These are our first 3 main ideas. The participation in all measures is planned to be voluntary.

Right now we are especially curious about your comments and suggestions.

Update: We are aware of the issue with old accounts and are currently working on resolving it. We’ll email all users when the problem has been resolved.

i have removed the blogcounter.com widget from my blog, as there are no stats that show up for the month of september.

    when will this be fixed?

  3. TheGonzoMama sagt am 08.09.2009 um 04:13 Uhr

My stats and logs haven’t been working for weeks. Those pages are filled with code, like this:

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/vhosts/blogcounter.com/httpdocs/bc/libraries/functions.lib.php on line 869

I am prepared to leave BlogCounter, though I used to like it.

    Will these problems be fixed?

As an aside, I set up a new account for a new blog, and it worked okay until September 5, 2009 but then it didn’t log any hits until today. I know from the two other analytics programs that I run that I had many hits during those days. Will that data become available or not?

The same for my blog. When is it going to be working again?

No data appears except error codes.

I see only DB-Errors. You have to fix it, if you don’t wanna lose a lot of members.

    Dear Sir
I am not too sure about your messages
I guess the issue is tempororay
I enjoy writing in this blog
However there is lack of security
Lots of bloggers steal from my blog to promote their blogs and using my blog titles
I hope u can advise on how to overcome this type of plagiarism
As for errors i have to look out
Am not too savy at the dynamics of the web operation

After a few days of troubles, it’s all working well on my blog, now. Thank you BlogCounter. I don’t mind troubles if you can solve them at the end. To me you’re doing a good job, and it’s a shame that people only leave bad comments.
Hey, bloggers all around : please remember BlogCounter is a FREE service… If you want to use another service, please try. I’ve tested a few since the day I began my blog in 2005, and now these other services have all disapeared. I wonder why, don’t you ?
    ;)

Update: New owners/tech support have been in contact with me via email and say they are working on the coding issues. I assume they are doing the same for everyone with an older account. Let’s hang in there and let them make it work!

    still broken.
    …just to let you know.

And the server keeps sending me emails notifying abt an unusually huge traffic on my site. I wish it was true, but these figuers just look a bit suspicious. :)

Thanks for your job guys, hope you sort things out.

I’m with wrongside. I have been getting a huge amount of traffic to my blog, and I wish it was true but I don’t think it’s correct. I’ve always been happy with blog counter. I hope that we’ll know what we should do soon. Thanks!

I hope you guys will continue to keep us posted and that outages and sluggish performance by the blogcounter.com site (thus impacting my blog at times) are in the past.

  22. OSanto sagt am 10.09.2009 um 11:38 Uhr

Hmmm. The only trouble I see is that after receiving your email yesterday my counter incremented by over 11,000 hits! Surely my blog isn’t THAT popular!

    Rgds,

  23. Elaine Adair sagt am 17.09.2009 um 05:22 Uhr

My counter went DOWN by 3000-4000. I tried to adjust the counter in the template but that’s a big NO-NO!

And frankly, I’m not sure which counter to use … do they all feed back into this Blog Counter?
